I felt I was in need for change of weather just to save my sanity. So we have planned to visit Vegas a fun place . When I have visited for the first time we stayed in the Casino Alladin . On my second visit we have stayed in Bellagio. This time we have stayed in Monte Carlo..
It is a nice place . The rooms were good. The services too were good. The day we reached Vegas was Sunday. On Sundays most of the Casinos serve Brunch . Generally the Brunch contains the items we enjoy for breakfast, Lunch and dinner. So we went to enjoy the Brunch in Monte Carlo itself. I was disappointed. Being a vegetarians it was hard for us to find the dishes we enjoy without worrying whether they have used eggs, or meat .
The Casino itself is very large one. One can play the games with one cent to highest stakes. and there are so many new machines. I have played on all the machines. It was fun.
In the evening we have enjoyed walking on the strip because the weather was very good and there was no necessity to cover us in many layers of cloths.
Here are the pictures of Monte Carlo where we have stayed and the strip in the evening time..

Looks like everyone is doing (!) Vegas these days... a much donein town I guess!
I was there some 15yrs ago celebrating high-school graduation; what a fun filled trip it was... I had gone with school friends... all on back-packs! We drove from Anheim CA after visiting Disney Land...& Hollywood at CA. It was some 4hrs by car... all the way through Nevada to be in Vegas by morning.
We never booked a hotel at Vegas although we spent two full & fun days and a night! We slept at airport lounge betwn 2AM and 6AM (when casinos were closed) and used free facilities at the Vegas Airport (grandest I have seen in US.)
For you it must have been quite a change from Midwestern winter to Spring at Vegas! Besides Casino gambling there you can find great music concerts, boxing events, floor-shows & performances, dance-dramas, dinner-theaters... even magic and circus shows. Even 15yrs ago gatefees for them were high anywhere from $35 to $120 per person depending on what kind of show you went to. In those days there were some ranchy/trashy/nudy shows too in town... but nowadays it seems they are all located outside Vegas city limits.
As to winning at coin-machines in casinos... we found 1$ coin machines to be giving great returns... sometimes 10 to 25times your input all in just 5 to 10 minutes. Ofcourse if you did not stop your winning spree and got greedy you could lose it all within the next hour! I am told nowadays the machines give out barcoded winning vouchers anywhere from $50 to $2500 to eliminate coin-jingle and coin-shower as you win! This might be good for those who want to stop at a sane hour, cash it and take it to bank! We had one brainy guy in group who could do card-counting and knew blackjack and such card games. He won really big at card tables.
Vegas strip is great fun to just walk end to end all the way to the busstation at one end. The lights and fountains infront of all those Casinos is something out of this world! One can hopin and hopout of city buses too all just for a day's bus pass. Not sure what it is now.

Hi Indu : Nice pictures, I love going to Vegas, I am not much of a gambler but there are enough things to do there besides gambling. Good choice of hotel, we did the mistake of staying at Luxor which is a great hotel but it is located towards the end of the strip and gets kinda dull at times.

Indu,
Nice blog and fotos. So u were traveling?
I did the Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Hoover dam trip all together. Wild west.....! The drivers in LV were simply too fast n reckless! I played some slot machines but got bored later.
Yeah, in those areas, it is very difficult to get pure veggie food esp if one is in a hurry and has little time to drive many miles to a veg restaurant.
